The power of prayer
Our night time routine consists of the sleepy time parade. . . "Hurray make way for the sleepy time parade!" and the girls march to bed. Its amazing how well it works. We go into their room and as a family we pray. I have always enjoyed praying with the girls but as they get older I enjoy it even more.
At first I was the only that prayed. I used this time to speak over them good words and pray that they act well etc. Here is my nightly prayer: Thank you Jesus that you give us sweet sleep and the angels watch over us as we sleep. Thank you Jesus that we wake with a happy attitude, obedient heart and we love and play with our sister.
At different times I have added things that the girls needed pray for like walking, eating and even going to the potty. It has given us opporunities to learn what obedience means: do what mommy and daddy ask the first time. It has also given us the time to teach the girls how to pray.
Olivia now really enjoys praying. In fact she enjoys it so much that she asks to pray before naptime too. She always prays for Granny and Grandpa and then whoever else she can think of. Ive been telling her that praying is a way to talk to God about anything. A time to thank Him for the good things and pray for things you want or need. Olivia has certainly gotten ahold of this principle. After praying for the special people in her life she often adds "and thank you God that we get to go to the zoo" or "we get to go to Chuck E Cheese again".
Now we all take turns praying and even Ava prays. Her prayers are probably the funniest because we cant understand a word she says except AMEN! LOL!
The sleepy time parade is a wonderful idea!!! I also love that u r making prayer a consistent routine. Blees u and Amen!
