A quick wrap of our trip
The girls and I drove down on Monday to Oklahoma which was approximately 6 1/2 hours. We stayed with my parents and had a great time.
Tuesday we drove to Tulsa to see Jim's parents and his brother and sister in law and most importantly Baby Alice. She is a doll! Her dad plays the guitar and little Alice kicks her leg in time to the guitar. It is so cute. Of course I took absolutely no pictures, why because I'm a bad Aunt I guess! After the visit we drove back to my parents to spend the night. Round trip driving of an hour and a half.
Wednesday we chilled at my parents. When I say chilled I really mean to say, my Mom and I ripped the wall paper off the bathroom walls. It was absolutely cathartic! Wednesday night my dad, the girls and I went to church while my mom painted the bathroom. My dad spoke to the youth group. He spoke while they texted each other. If I weren't a guest I would have said something. Anyway.
Thursday, Dad and I left the house at 4am on our way to Texas. It was a bit of a crazy time but paid off when we got into the Dallas rush hour. We visited my Grandmother and then went to her apartment to pack all her stuff in a van and head back to Oklahoma. We spent the night with my sister and her family. It was so nice to enjoy Stephanie and her kids when my kids weren't there. (A big thanks to my mom for watching the girls. My mom is a super hero I tell ya. She watched the girls and finished the bathroom!)
Friday we headed back to Oklahoma, where we unloaded the stuff and got it all ready in Grandmothers room. Total driving time was about 8 1/2 hours or so.
Saturday we drove back to Tulsa for more visiting with Jim's family. To our surprise, all of Jim's siblings were there. Its been 3 years since this has happened. We drove back to my parents after the party. Another hour and a half for those of you keeping score.
Sunday we drove 45 minutes to church where my dad is preaching. Lunch was at Sam and Ella's. If you say it out loud it sounds like the contaminate on chicken. Carrie Underwood used to work here when she was in college. The place makes incredible pizza!
After lunch we made a round trip to Jim's parents and then back to my parents. Yes again it was an hour and a half.
Monday we drove home. It was the girls first time at the McDonald's that goes over the turnpike. They loved waving at the cars. That in itself brings back memories of my growing up years. I still wave when I drive under it. Our trip was complete after the 6 1/2 hour trip.
Were you adding up all the road miles? Ill help you out, it was a total of 28 hours in the car. Thankfully I didn't drive all of it but a good portion!
holy road trip, batman!
