Drs visit

Today was our 6month nursery follow up visit for both of the girls. They both were weighed and then evaluated by Speech and Physical therapists and then by a doctor. They both got very good reports. Olivia weighs 22 lbs 6 oz and Ava weighs 19 lbs 4 oz. Only a few more ounces and Ava can finally be front facing in her car seat!

The doctor recommended shoe inserts for Olivia because she has front feet and pronates (walks on the inside of her feet.) He suggested that at some point Ava be followed up by speech but not a priority at this time. Avas ears have no fluid and the speech therapist said not to worry her speech would come. That was nice and reassuring. This was only the 2nd time this doctor has seen the girls since we moved here last year. He said today "Last time I was cautious but this time I will say that your girls are doing very well! Whatever you are doing keep it up!" That is so nice to hear especially from medical personnel!

I have so appreciated the doctors and nurses that we have met along the way! Our therapists have been so wonderful as well. As I close tonight, I end on a sad note. One of our therapist from Illinois died last week of Ovarian cancer. We loved Tricia Vaughn, she helped me and Olivia at a time when I was very frustrated about Olivias progress in walking. I had begun to think that the brain bleed had left more damage because she was only talking a little and not walking. Tricia came to our house every week and worked puzzles and games with Olivia. I began to see how much Olivia learned and memorized. That gave me hope that Olivia was indeed a very smart girl! Many of things that we do, say or sing we learned from Miss Tricia, a woman we will not soon forget! We are praying for her family!
