Thankful for Scrabble?

The next couple of days are going to be a recap of last week. I can't believe Thanksgiving was already a week ago.

As always we had 2 Thanksgivings, which can be really great. You only need to eat what you really like. Each table offered completely different things! My Super Cool Dad makes really great Jalapeno Dressing. We also had green bean casserole and mashed potatoes! Yum!

At our 2nd Thanksgiving we had Chipotle Sweet Potatoes that my awesome Mother in law made! The recipe could seriously be an every day thing. In fact thats a great idea and if I can find the recipe I will post it right here for you my faithful readers! My sister in law and her boyfriend made an awesome salad. It had just about everything in it and if that wasnt enough the homemade dressing had a combination of garlic and jalepenos and other good stuff. Yummy!

The after dinner enertainment at our 2nd Thanksgiving included the infamous Wii and a ruthless Scrabble game!

My neices actually got the Wii that day so it was it was the maiden voyage. This allowed Olivia to beat Julia (9yo cousin) in boxing more than once. It was amazing. Although, I am a little concerned when Olivia screamed "You're going down Julia!"

In the other room the Scrabble game began. We played teams and came up with our own celebrity name for each couple. Jim and I were "Kames." A little back story:My whole in law family are known for their ruthlessness at any games. There was once a croquet incident where I left the game crying and screaming. It wasn't one of my prettier moments however that should always be a lesson that I will probably never win a game with them. With that understanding I simply play for fun. My sil on the other hand wisely chooses to be an observer and every time she does this I regret not following her lead.

Stephen, my sil new boyfriend is quite the gamer. He is an avid Scrabble player so he fits right into the clan. The game got a little ruthless with 2 different challenges of words. If and when there is a next time for a family scrabble match up, a dictionary will be decided upon before one tile is played. BTW, did you know there is such thing as an urban dictionary. Let's just say it is an eye opening experience.

Thanks to Facebook and the Iphone the game was made even more interesting when several family members would change their status to reflect their feelings at the present time. Can I just we didn't win but the laughter and quite frankly the tension was awesome.

Here you can see Ray with his Iphone. He also chose not to play!

Can you see the funny look on Chris' face as she updates her facebook status?

  1. That is awesome! Keegan loves that boxing one too! We had to limit his time on there! It's amazing the trash talk he would do!

May I suggest the official Scrabble dictionary??? Thus, hopefully, limiting the ruthfulness. Perhaps...

    Lovin' the new look!!

    LOVE the Christmassy blog decor!

I would have died laughing if I had been there when Oliva told her cousin she was "going down." Hilarious!
