Emergency on our street

It was a beautiful, sunny day yesterday. I was out doing some retail therapy while Jim watched the kids. I started to come home, thinking its so wonderful that I don't have to get on any highways because i hate to drive in rain. Some how driving on highways makes it worse. Anyway, as I was driving home along the tree lined streets. It was really windy and storming and I began to think I certainly hope a tree doesn't hit my car!

I made it home and was drenched just from the car to the house. A few minutes later, the doorbell rang. Our neighbor from across the street, her 2 little girls and their puppy were there and absolutely soaking wet. Sarah asked "Can my girls stay here? A tree fell and knocked a power line down. It is laying right on my house, smoking and sparking." Sarah had called 911 but apparently their was so much affected by the storm, including a man trapped and 2 fires. About 10 minutes later a police came up and decided that this situation was a first alarm fire. That is to say many fire trucks were headed our way. Because of the storm the fireman came from surrounding cities.
Fortunately their was no fire, although Sara's electricity was turned off until they could secure the power line. Amazingly enough there was a couple bike riding and stopped to find out what was going on. They offered Sara a generator to use until her power came back on. How awesome is that!

Max and Ava surveying the scene.
Oh dear, what could the matter be!
There are 3 firetrucks in this picture. The bush is blocking my shot.
The downed tree and power line are in between the 2 houses.
The firefighters making sure the danger is over. The guy in the red shirt is the from the electric company turning off the power.
Now its an official incident with the police tape!
I totally missed the shot where the fireman was bending down talking to the kids.
Did I mention that Ava loves "piyah pitahs"?
