Remember
Things happen so quickly in life that it is so easy to forget the details. When Jim and I got married, Jim's mom Alice told me something about how she remembers walking down the aisle. I realized that there may be things that I will forget about that day but I too wanted to remember walking down the aisle. I can almost see the faces of our dear friends and family when I close my eyes. It was an awesome moment and of course seeing Jim was awesome too! My dad may remember things about that trip that Ive forgotten but I really tried to keep that memory forever.
Last night as I sat and listened to the sound of children laughing and playing I had the same thought. Remember this moment for they grow up so fast. What beautiful blessings they are and to think that I almost didn't have them.
A friend of mine found out her child had a medical condition that would affect him for the rest of his life. She so eloquently wrote about how hard it had been and how she only had Jesus to trust. She also included this little story. I am reminded of the words that Woodrow Kroll spoke to his daughter when she told him her baby had defects. She said, "Oh, daddy! What do we do now?" He said, "Honey, today is the day we live the faith we say we believe."
How true that is. It reminded me of another memory. When Olivia was in the NICU we were told that she had a Grade 4 brain bleed. This is the worst brain bleed possible and could lead to all kinds of scary things. That day I just cried and cried and cried. The next day I stood up and said well whatever it takes, I will give my baby the best life possible. Her story has a good ending, although shes not great in her gross motor skills ( walking, jumping, stairs) she has had little to no effects of the brain bleed! Her gross motor skills continue to improve so much and she is as smart as a tack. She's even started reading. Praise the Lord! It is such a distant memory that I almost take it for granted. It totally empowers me about what the Lord has done in her life!
“This is my body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of me.” And He took
the cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for the
forgiveness of sins; do this in remembrance of me.” (Luke 22:19-20)
A good reminder to remember! So true! It will be gone so fast!
