God will make a way. . .
I've really enjoyed reading the Bible in One Year on my phone. Truth be told I am pretty addicted to my phone so reading the Bible with it makes me feel a little less guilty about the whole mess.
Anyway, I've been reading in Exodus about the great story of the Israelite's leaving Egypt. Exodus 10-13 Moses tells us about the plagues that God brought on Pharaoh and the people of Egypt because he would not let the Israelites go. Exodus 10:1 says ". . . I have made him and his officials stubborn so I can display my miraculous signs among them."
While God was saving the Israelites, He used the plagues to show how miraculous His power was. After all the trials of locusts, gnats, frogs, death of livestock and firstborn children etc. Pharaoh finally gave up and let the Israelites go.Exodus 13:17 When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said "If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt."
God had a plan that was going to be awesome and quite miraculous. The Israelites were scared and who wouldnt be. It looked like now there slave treatment in Egypt was much better than being in the wilderness with no escape from the Egyptians. In fact God planned for the Egyptians to try to come get them. Another step to show God's miraculous escape.
Exodus 14:22 So the people of Israel walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side. What an incredible thought!!
The Egyptians still came after them but God caused the waters of the Red Sea to go back to normal.
I'm writing this today as an encouragement for myself. It's an awesome story and it works out really well for us the reader because we can turn the page and see it all turned out so nicely.
But imagine being part of the escaping group. God sent them the long way out and it really looked like they were going to get attacked by the Egyptians. The Israelites whined about the arrangements saying slavery was better.
It would be so easy for me to pass judgment on these people. Why are they whining, God just saved them? But wait I think I've been guilty about complaining about where I am in my life. I need to remember that God causes all things to work together for good. . . Romans 8:28 God can even use my circumstances to show His mighty power and miracles.
I pray today that God works in my life so that others who see me see that God will and has made a way. I also pray that I will complain less and trust God even more!
